Central Vancouver Island Japanese Canadian Cultural Society is starting the Cherry Blossom Fundraising Project in Nanaimo. We aim to fundraise for 100 Akebono Cherry Blossom Trees. The City of Nanaimo is working with our society and they will allocate the locations, plant and maintaine these trees. Akebono Cherry Blossom Trees are very similar to Somei Yoshino in Japan. Japan also starting to switch to Akebono these days due to more resilient against diseases. We are wishing through this fundraise to bring harmony and peace to our community as Japanese traditional mentality.
